EDINBURG — More than 100 veterans, city leaders and community members attended the city of Edinburg’s Memorial Day Commemorative Ceremony Friday. Attendees watched tributes, musical performances and a moment of silence amid a sea of flags honoring fallen veterans. The whole crowd stood as Giuliani Garcia of Robert Vela High School, 17, played taps.

BROWNSVILLE — The Dean Porter Park Renovation Inc. unveiled a life-sized sculpture of legendary aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart on Tuesday at Dean Porter Park to memorialize her connection here.

ALAMO — The wrestlers of New Breed Wrestling held an anniversary show at The Landmark on Tower in Alamo on Sunday, March 24. The show featured four matches, including a tag team championship match, a six-way ladder match, and a heavyweight championship match.

SAN JUAN — A funeral Mass was held here at the Basilica Of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle-National Shrine on Thursday for Border Patrol agent Christopher Luna.

MERCEDES — Students brought their goats before the judges during the 85th annual Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show and Rodeo. Applause rushed from the bleachers as students received their blue ribbons and their red ribbons and their pink ribbons for their goats.
