Hidalgo County voters will have plenty to decide on this Tuesday as Election Day has arrived.

McALLEN — A proposal by the McAllen school board president on placing agenda items was met with mixed response Monday night, including vocal disapproval from the vice president.

The Brownsville Independent School District on Thursday named Brownsville native and BISD graduate Jesus H. Chavez as interim superintendent of schools, effective as soon as negotiations conclude for the position.

Early voting has commenced in the Hidalgo County area with local races, tax rate elections and Texas constitutional amendments on the ballots.
