COMMENTARY: Two bipartisan bills can revitalize American innovation

There may be some good news on the horizon for small business owners, courtesy of Congress. A bipartisan group of lawmakers recently introduced a pair of bills that could make it easier for entrepreneurs to patent certain lifesaving inventions and fend off thieves looking to steal their technology. The first bill, the PREVAIL Act, would make some much-needed reforms to a 2011 law that I co-authored.

LETTERS: SpaceX blasted, Don’t overbook doctors’ offices

On Nov. 18, SpaceX attempted another launch that ended in another rocket explosion. According to Texas Public Radio, the Super Heavy rocket caused an earthquake that was felt up to an hour away from the launch facility at Boca Chica Beach.

LETTERS: Political misdeeds, Stand down

Political parties have become so irresponsible, calling each other fascists and Nazis without thought to the fact that both have histories of autocracy, pervasive mandates, disregard for laws and voracious dictatorial hunger for power and wealth.

LETTERS: Cheney praised, Actions questioned

I’ve ordered the book “Oath and Honor” by this courageous remarkable woman, Liz Cheney. As much as I disagreed with her and her dad on the Iraq and Afghanistan war, the interpretation of the Second Amendment, abortion rights and various other subjects, I agree wholeheartedly with her warning about a second Donald Trump term.

COMMENTARY: Netanyahu draws fire

Hear, O Israel: why do you make war on your brother Ishmael (also son of Abraham)? Why do you keep your bother in an open-air prison (Gaza), forcing him to despair? Why do you accept more than $3 billion in military aid from the United States every year? Why are you so preoccupied with killing your brother? Cannot brothers (Jews and Arabs) live in peace?

LETTERS: Trump backed, Biden bashed

The messages emanating from the media squawk galleries are absolutely titillating, enthralling and gripping. Like a clever Hollywood script, with the good: (Democrats) and the bad: (Orange Man) in an epic showdown of corporate morality.

LETTERS: It’s not the guns, Vouchers not wanted

This in my response to Beto Conde’s commentary dated Dec. 4.

LETTERS: Lacking integrity, Learning to work

One would have to be naïve, deaf or blind to not know that Donald J. Trump has said and done some crazy, juvenile, unpresidential and even treasonous things. The most serious was what he did on Jan. 6, 2021, waging war on our democracy. I mean, the guy definitely is not fit to be president! He does not have an ounce of decency, humility or integrity in his whole body.

EDITORIAL: Brownsville Veterans’ success helps unite Valley at the right time

Waves of support have swept across the Rio Grande Valley for Brownsville Memorial Early College High School High as it has advanced through the Texas UIL football playoffs. The team won in dramatic fashion at home against Corpus Christi Miller last week, winning 35-28 in the final minutes after trailing 28-7 with 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter.

LETTERS: Immigration a federal issue, Israel backed

The federal government, and not some redneck governor from Texas, controls immigration. The Naturalization Act of 1798 imposed registration requirements on all white immigrants living or arriving in the United States.
