LETTERS: Insane heat, lack of water is normal in the West

I lived in Phoenix, and extreme heat is normal in the summer for this area. I would say that it has been like this for several millions of years. Extreme dryness is also normal.

Media makes it seem like it is abnormal to have extreme heat. There is also a lack of shade trees. Considering that the global average temp is 57.5 degrees, even the RGV is hot. The lowest humidity recorded in Arizona is 2%.
