Imagine bringing your own picnic, parking for free and using the park’s inner tubes, life vests and boogie boards at no cost as you and your family enjoy Beach Park Waterpark on South Padre Island.

Those conveniences and more return Saturday when Beach Park Waterpark on South Padre Island, opens for the 2022 season. Beach Park, previously known as Schlitterbahn South Padre Island, will be open weekends until May 28, when daily operation begins for the summer.

“We are so ready to be opening and welcoming guests back for the entire summer”, said Mike Bigelow, Beach Park director of Marketing and Sales. “Our favorite part of the year is seeing the smiling faces and joy that so many have shared with us, but were unable to do as frequently as they would have liked the past few seasons. The support and eagerness of our guests waiting for this season has been overwhelming and can’t start soon enough!”

With nearly two dozen attractions, spread over 15 acres, including four uphill watercoasters, one of the country’s largest inland surfing rides, multiple tube chutes, kid’s areas and the signature Sandcastle, named a Top 5 Kid’s Waterpark attraction by USA Today, Beach Park provides a full day’s entertainment for all ages.

The award-winning Transportainment river system (part transportation, part sport and part entertainment) is an endless river that floats guests from ride to ride without ever having to get out of their tube. The river system also includes a waterfall and rapids section for those who have a need for speed.

“Watching kids and families gather under the Sandcastle’s tipping bucket for pictures is something that always reminds us of the fun and togetherness that Beach Park brings to our guests,” Bigelow said.

Plentiful seating, in both sun and shade are available, and if you are looking for your own oasis, nearly 30 private cabanas are available, situated along the Rio Aventura or on a “private” Island. Cabanas include table-side wait service and six bottled waters as well.

For those who are looking for a panchaga setting, palapas come complete with seating for up to 35 people and a BBQ grill. Beach Park provides family friendly amenities such as free parking, free use of inner tubes, life vests and boogie boards and allows people to bring their own picnics.

“Not many parks allow you to park your car for free, bring in your own picnic, and allow use of tubes for no charge, which is one of the many reasons Beach Park is such a great value,” Bigelow said. “And with gas prices the way they are, we are a great way to vacation in your own backyard,”

The waterpark also has direct beach access, numerous food stands with everything from traditional fare to regional favorites and full bar services.
