The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian incident that left an Edinburg man dead Wednesday evening.
The crash occurred at around 9:29 p.m. Wednesday on State Highway 48 near Chemical Road, DPS said in a news release.
A man driving a 2003 blue Ford Ranger pickup truck struck a man later identified as Jorge Jesus Iglesias, who was walking across the roadway.
Authorities have not yet identified the driver of the pickup truck.
Iglesias, 42, had been crossing the street in an attempt to retrieve gasoline for his vehicle, according to the release, which went on to state that Iglesias’ vehicle had stalled.
When state troopers arrived at the location they found that Iglesias had died at the scene.
Troopers are currently investigating the incident.
