MISSION — A new assistant police chief was announced Monday among several other appointments within the Mission Police Department.
MISSION — A new assistant police chief was announced Monday among several other appointments within the Mission Police Department.
Jody Tittle was named as the new assistant police chief following the retirement of Jose A. “Tony” Garcia in March.
Tittle has been with Mission PD for 18 years, Chief Robert Dominguez said during a city council meeting Monday, serving as a lieutenant in charge of the criminal investigations bureau for the last five years.
“It’s an honor and privilege to serve everyone in this community,” Tittle said before the city council. “My dedication to everyone will never fade away. After 18 years, I feel just as excited coming into work as I did the first day I came to work here.”
Tittle will serve as assistant chief of operations while Assistant Chief Joel Larralde, appointed in 2013, oversees administrative matters. For the time being, Tittle will continue serving as the department’s spokesperson; however, his promotion created a domino effect of other appointments.
Sgt. Javier Ramon was promoted to police lieutenant to replace Tittle. Replacing Ramon as police sergeant is Orlando Cedillo and replacing him as corporal is Mario Monforte who served as a criminal investigator.
“Very proud of the gentlemen,” Dominguez said. “They studied hard in their promotional exams.”
“Leadership is not a position,” Tittle added in his remarks before the city council. ”Leadership is an action and that will always be true and dear to me as I serve this community and its residents and everyone I come in contact with.”
