The threat of bad weather on Friday is forcing the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Brownsville campus to move the commencement ceremony to McAllen.
The outdoor graduation will now be held Friday evening at the McAllen Convention Center.
The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. – an hour later than previously scheduled – to allow extra travel time for those planning to attend.
Tickets are not required to attend the ceremony, but seating is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors will open at 6 p.m.
UTRGV is also posting the ceremony live online on its website at www.utrgv.edu/live or on the UTRGV Facebook page.
Saturday’s ceremonies will proceed as scheduled: 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., at the McAllen Convention Center.
