Repaving of popular San Benito trail underway

You might be able to skip out on your nightly walk if you exercise on the Heavin Resaca Trail in San Benito.

Crews have begun repaving the popular trail. The repair will include a new layer of asphalt to the 2.6-mile trail from Business 77 to Stenger.

The city had planned to repair the asphalt in October but delayed plans until after Halloween.

This summer the city installed seven low impact eco-friendly lights along the south side of the trail near the amphitheater.

The project was part of a federal grant which cost more than $20,000 and came from the city’s Community Development Block Grant program.
