Bicyclist struck by truck taken to hospital

HARLINGEN — Police are investigating an early morning accident which landed a bicyclist in the hospital.

At approximately 5:53 a.m. yesterday, officers responded to the 1200 block of West Harrison Avenue in reference to a collision involving a truck and a bicyclist.

When they arrived, officers found a male bicyclist in the roadway. The man was immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision.

The initial investigation indicated the man was crossing the street when he was struck by a white Ford F150 pickup that was traveling westbound on Harrison in the center lane.

Members of the Highway Enforcement Unit responded and are conducting the investigation.

The cause and manner of the collision are under investigation.
