Brightwood College to host career fair

Brightwood College in Brownsville will host a career fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Brightwood campus, 1900 N. Expressway, Suite O.

The event is free and open to the public, featuring career development opportunities, refreshments and giveaways, with a career workshop, mock interviews and resume building activities prior to the event from 9 to 11 a.m. and a student appreciation activity from 9:50 to 10:30 a.m.

Those who attend will be entered to win prizes such as a Chromebook and an Amazon gift card but are asked to register with the campus by calling (956) 547-8200 prior to the event.

“Hosting a career fair presents such a valuable opportunity for students, local employers and community members alike,” campus president Colin Ellis said. “Especially in today’s job market, networking is becoming increasingly valuable, and we are eager to help facilitate these professional connections. We are grateful for the opportunity to invest in our community and in the Brownsville job market with this career development event.”

The event is part of Brightwood College parent company Education Corporation of America’s national Career Fair events being held at 63 other Brightwood College, Brightwood Career Institute and Virginia College locations in 17 states.

Community partners and local employers representing Rio Grande State Center, CSL Plasma, AC-I, CDM Refrigeration, TAC, LV Imaging, the city of Brownsville, Cameron County, Valley Baptist Medical Center, Vanguard IT, JNC Behavioral and Family Allergy Center will be present at the career fair.

The event will also allow attendees to explore the programs offered through Brightwood College including: Computer Support Technician, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Technician, Medical Assistant, Medical Office Specialist, Medical Practice Management and Pharmacy Technician programs.
