Talk of the Town: Students enjoy exploring San Benito during field trip

Frank Roberts Elementary kindergarten classes were awarded a Target Field trip grant designed to allow them to take an educational field trip to meet community leaders and learn about their hometown.

The students visited the San Benito Museums to learn about the city’s past and present, with community leaders sharing stories about the musicians that helped shape the conjunto music industry.

They enjoyed a friendly game of soccer at Falligant Park with the San Benito Park and Recreation Department staff, who also shared information on staying active and healthy by enjoying outdoor activities and making healthy food choices; and visited the City of San Benito Fire Station #1, learning about home fire safety and participating in a tour of the facility.

The fun-filled and educational day also included a delicious lunch at The Pizzeria, a local restaurant.
