‘Miracle on the Hudson’ survivor to speak in Harlingen

HARLINGEN — Tomorrow, Friday, the Harlingen Rotary Club’s speaker is a well known plane crash survivor.

He’s also an author. Dave Sanderson, the last passenger off US Airways Flight 1549, “The Miracle on the Hudson” flight, will be speaking about his experience as well as several other topics including empowerment, leadership and vision/purpose.

The event is open to the public, with lunch priced at $13 per person.

When US Airways Flight 1549, or “The Miracle on the Hudson,” ditched into the Hudson River on January 15, 2009, Sanderson was the last person off the plane.

He was largely responsible for the well-being and safety of others, risking his own life in frigid water to help other passengers off the plane.

Despite the danger to himself, Sanderson thought only of helping others and emerged from the wreckage with a mission: to encourage others to do the right thing.

That experience profoundly changed his life and today he travels the globe sharing his inspirational and motivational leadership messages to help people make a difference in how they do business and live their lives.

After his 30-year career as a sales executive, Sanderson decided it was time for a change of scenery and started his own company, Dave Sanderson Speaks Enterprises, where he has become an internationally sought-after speaker in the areas of entrepreneurship, leadership, and teamwork.

“This is a great opportunity to listen to an internationally known celebrity,” said Juanita Stringfield, club public image director.
