Habitat for Humanity completes Frank Boggus Legacy House

HARLINGEN – Habitat for Humanity of the Rio Grande Valley celebrated the completion of the Frank Boggus Legacy House at an open house and home dedication yesterday.

Harlingen City Commissioner Tudor Uhlhorn welcomed the home recipient, Enedina Salazar, to the neighborhood and thanked the Boggus family for their generosity.

“For four generations, the Boggus family has served this community in making the valley a great place” Uhlhorn added “their generosity is boundless.”

Barbara Tucker, Frank Boggus’s daughter, spoke on behalf of the family and handed over the keys to the Enedina. Other speakers included Harlingen Mayor Chris Boswell, HFHRGV Executive Director Wayne Lowry, Pastor Bill Reagan and Frank Boggus.

This house is the first Legacy House built by Habitat for Humanity of the Rio Grande Valley.

It was made possible through the generous $25,000 donation from the Boggus family in honor of Frank Boggus for his countless contributions to our community.

Many others have honored Mr. Boggus by contributing toward the construction of the home.

What is Habitat for Humanity?

Habitat is a global nonprofit housing organization working in nearly 1,400 communities across the United States and in 70 countries around the world.

Habitat’s vision is of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat works toward that vision by building strength, stability and self reliance in partnership with people and families in need of a decent, affordable home.

Habitat’s homebuyers invest hundreds of hours of their own work, called “sweat equity” working alongside the volunteers and other Habitat homeowners.
