Missing brother, sister located safe in Matamoros

The two children missing from San Benito have been found with family in Matamoros.

San Benito Police say Alondra Sanchez Rosales, 11, and her 15-year-old brother Brandon Rosales Sanchez were discovered at a relative’s house with their mother. The children were in good health and safe.

Police say they received help from the U.S. Consulate in Matamoros and worked with Matamoros police to find the kids.

Investigators say the children were taken March 23 by the mother’s boyfriend, Christian Lopez-Hernandez, who had on ongoing criminal investigation against him.

The family are all Mexican nationals and will not be extradited to the U.S.

The Sistema Nacional Para el Desarrolo Intregal de la Familia, a Mexican agency similar to Child Protective Services, will handle the investigation and make sure the children are take care of.

Police say Lopez-Hernandez was asked to leave the home by family and Mexican police.
