Weslaco ISD to hold health fair

WESLACO — Residents in the Weslaco area are invited to the 24th Annual Informational and Educational Health Fair hosted and sponsored by the Weslaco ISD Parent and Family Engagement Department.

The fair is being held at the Catholic War Veterans Hall on North FM 1015 on Wednesday, October 30th, starting at 8:30 a.m. Those in attendance have the opportunity to win door prizes, which will be given away every 30 minutes.

Community members can receive free eye tests, glucose screenings, haircuts provided by the Advance Barber College, and massages from Massage Masters. Other available amenities include manicures provided by WISD cosmetology students and blood pressure checks administered by health science students.

The WISD Special Education and Migrant departments will be in attendance to provide information on student services available at the district. Books, provided by the South Texas Coalition, will be available for parents to take home.

“We want to help out parents and community members who may not have access to these services to come by,” Director of Parent and Family Engagement Erica Garcia said in a news release. “This is a great way to get a checkup.”
