The PSJA High Bears and La Joya Palmview Lobos both earned spots in their respective classes in the latest Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association (THSBCA) statewide top 10 poll released Monday.
PSJA High is Class 6A’s No. 9-ranked team, according to the THSBCA top 10. The Bears lead District 31-6A with a 10-0 record in league play and sit at 20-2 overall. PSJA’s only two losses this season came against top 10 teams at the Class 4A level in No. 1 Sinton and No. 7 China Spring. Winners of 10 straight games, the Bears host Mission High at 7 tonight and hit the road to take on Edinburg Vela at 7 p.m. Thursday.
La Joya Palmview is the No. 7-ranked team at the Class 5A level, according to the latest state rankings. The Lobos have ripped off 14 straight wins for a 19-1 overall record, while also dominating District 30-5A competition with a 5-0 district record.
The Lobos host Laredo Cigarroa at 6 p.m. for another 30-5A test.
