Last Wednesday, San Benito Schools students started the new school year, arriving with great enthusiasm and expectation – setting the tone for a successful classroom experience.
After more than a year of remote instruction and then a slow transition of face-to-face instruction last year, students proudly walked into their classrooms to start the 2021-2022 school year.
Every school campus followed established safety protocols for the well-being of staff, students, and parents. Face masks of all colors and sizes could be seen from a distance, and the eyes and smiles of students spoke volumes.
Students were happy to be back in a school setting.
“I am nervous to be back because of everything that is happening, but excited to see my friends and be back in school,” said ninth grade student Ruby Garcia.
“It’s been a long time since we have had all our students on campus, and seeing them back gives us all a renewed sense of normalcy and reminds us of why we are here,” shared Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Operations Vicki Perez.
