As part of its continued efforts to provide Edinburg residents with fun and inclusive outdoor spaces, the city will be unveiling the completion of the Edinburg Municipal Pool House Redevelopment project Friday morning.

According to a press release from the city of Edinburg, this was a two-phase $5.1 million endeavor that included the demolition and reconstruction of the Edinburg Municipal Pool House, which was originally built in 1954.

It’s been replaced with a new 3,665-square-foot building that features family, men and women’s restrooms with showers, a cashier/concession space and a designated lifeguard room.

As part of the second phase, the redevelopment focused on the design and construction of a 16,800-square-foot splash pad known as “Pirate’s Cove” to match the adventurous theme.

“The community will be able to enjoy all that the splash pad has to offer in their visits, including an interactive pirate ship, tropical water features, and an aquatic wheelchair ramp,” the release said.

Everyone is invited to join city officials at the ribbon cutting ceremony which will be held at Mark S. Pena Drive at 10 a.m. this Friday.
