On Tuesday, Brownsville police arrested a 40-year-old man suspected of murdering a man who was found unresponsive on the side of a road Saturday morning.

The suspect was identified as Miguel Alfonso Ruiz in a Facebook video posted by the Brownsville Police Department Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called to the 1700 block of Morningside Road at 7:03 a.m. in reference to a man lying on the ground.

He was later identified as Jose Alfredo Andrade Ramirez.

According to Investigator Martin Sandoval, Ramirez was found dead and had “several injuries” to his body and head.

Ruiz was taken to the Brownsville City Jail where it was determined that he was responsible for the murder, according to police.

He was arraigned Wednesday on the charges of murder, unauthorized use of a vehicle and two counts of assault.

Ruiz is being held on $1,030,000 in bonds.
