This year’s festival promises to be bigger and better than ever, and we can’t wait to see everyone there.

The Edinburg Music Fest is making its return with a performance from Tejano music artist Little Joe y La Familia headlining this year’s event.

The city of Edinburg is partnering with The Museum of South Texas History and Texas Folklife to host its annual music festival on April 15 at the Edinburg Promenade Park Amphitheater located at 201 W. McIntyre in Edinburg.

Living up to its name, this year’s music fest will kick off with a Texas-themed music contest by hosting the annual Big Squeeze competition in which accordion players have the opportunity to showcase their talent. Throughout the competition, each participant will be performing various Texas genres such as Polka, Conjunto, Tejano, Zydeco, Cajun and others.

The competition is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. and run until 5 p.m. followed by the festival’s concert lineup beginning at 6 p.m. and running until 11 p.m. The concert is free to the public. However, those who wish to purchase a VIP table can visit edinburgarts.com/viptables.

This year’s music lineup includes performances from Frutty Villareal y Los Mavericks with their “Homenaje a Las Leyendas,” Jerry Alvarez & Danielle Ramirez and Grupo Solido.

This year’s festival will also feature carnival rides, food trucks, folkloric and dance performances as well as various activities for children, including a petting zoo.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the Museum of South Texas History and Texas Folklife to bring the Edinburg Music Festival to the community,” Letty Leija, director of Library & Cultural Arts, said in a news release.

“This year’s festival promises to be bigger and better than ever, and we can’t wait to see everyone there,” Leija said.
