Three more Cameron County residents have died from COVID-19 related causes, the health department reported Friday.
Two deaths were reported in Brownsville and one in Los Fresnos, Cameron County Public Health said in a statement.
They included two people in their 60s and one person in his 70s.
This raises the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Cameron County to 1,132, the health department said.
Also Friday, the health department said it has received confirmation on an additional 109 COVID-19 cases here, raising the total number of cases in Cameron County to 26,575.
New cases were reported in Brownsville, Combes, Harlingen, La Feria, Laguna Vista, Los Fresnos, Los Indios, Olmito, Port Isabel, Rio Hondo, San Benito, Santa Rosa and South Padre Island, the health department said.
The new cases include nine children ages 9 and younger, 23 people ages 10 to 19, 12 people in their 20s, 15 people in their 30s, 13 people in their 40s, nine people in their 50s, 13 people in their 60s, 10 people in their 70s and five people in their 80s.
There have also been an additional 107 individuals who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 23,644.
As part of the COVID-19 action response plan, Cameron County Public Health is conducting epidemiological investigations, contact tracing as needed and continues to monitor the situation, the health department said in the statement.
