HARLINGEN — For the first time in eight months, city officials announced Monday they are reopening Pendleton Pool on a reservation basis.
The city’s pools have been shut down for the spring and summer seasons due to COVID-19 concerns.
But with Gov. Greg Abbott easing restrictions and the reopening of some facilities, city officials decided to allow swimmers back in the water beginning Nov. 16.
There will be several restrictions, however.
First, it will be strictly reservation only and only from 6 a.m. until 8:15 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
“Sanitizing will be conducted following every session,” the city said in a statement.“Also, touch-free temperature checks of all patrons will be conducted before entering the facility.
“Swimmerswho do not have a reservation, have symptoms related to COVID-19, or a temperature of 100 degrees will not be allowed in,” the statement continued. “All swimmers must also come dressed to swim as changing rooms will not be open at this time.”

People without access to the internet who want to register can stop by in person at the Parks and Recreation Department offices at 502 E. Tyler during normal working hours.
