Cameron County reports 3 more virus deaths

Three more Cameron County residents have died from COVID-19 related causes, the county health department reported Friday night.

This raises the total number of coronavirus-related deaths here to 1,066, Cameron County Public Health said in a statement.

Two deaths were reported in Brownsville and one death was reported in Port Isabel, the health department said.

The individuals included one person in his 60s, one person in his 70s and one person in his 80s.

Also Friday, the health department said it has confirmed an additional 47 COVID-19 cases here, raising the total number of cases in Cameron County to 23,709.

New cases were reported in Brownsville, Harlingen, La Feria, Laguna Vista, Los Fresnos, Port Isabel, Primera, Rio Hondo, San Benito and South Padre Island.

The new cases include seven children ages 9 and younger, 12 people aged 10 to 19, seven people in their 20s, four people in their 30s, five people in their 40s, seven people in their 50s, two people in their 60s, two people in their 70s and one person in her 80s, the health department said.

There have also been an additional 64 individuals who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 21,404.
