Cameron County reports 9 more virus deaths

Nine more Cameron County residents have died from COVID-19 related causes, the county health department said in a statement Tuesday night.

This raises the total number of coronavirus-related deaths here to 935, Cameron County Public Health said in the statement.

This includes three people in their 60s, four people in their 70s and two people in their 80s.

Deaths were reported in Brownsville and Harlingen.

Also Tuesday, the health department said it has received confirmation on an additional 44 COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of cases in Cameron County to 22,825.

This includes children ages 9 and younger, 10 people ages 10 to 19, six people in their 20s, five people in their 30s, nine people in their 40s, six people in their 50s, four people in their 60s and two people in their 70s.

There have also been an additional 76 individuals who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 20,067.

Cameron County Public Health continues to work with nine nursing home facilities addressing the COVID-19 outbreaks.
