Cameron County reports 8 more virus deaths

Eight more Cameron County residents have died from COVID-19 related causes, the county health department reported Thursday.

This brings the total number of coronavirus-related deaths here to 903, Cameron County Public Health said in a statement.

The individuals include two people in their 40s, one person in her 50s, one person in her 60s, three people in their 70s and one person in his 90s.

Deaths were reported in Brownsville, Harlingen, Los Fresnos, San Benito and Santa Rosa.

Also Thursday, the health department said it has received confirmation on an additional 47 coronavirus cases, raising the total number of cases in Cameron County 22,633.

New cases were reported in Brownsville, Harlingen, La Feria, Los Fresnos, Port Isabel, Rio Hondo, San Benito and Santa Rosa.

The individuals range from four children ages 9 and younger to one woman in her 90s.

There have also been an additional 77 individuals who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 19,796.
