Fourteen more Cameron County employees have tested positive for COVID-19, County Judge Eddie Trevino Jr.’s office said in a statement.
The new cases are:
• 1 from Adult Probation Department
• 1 from Juvenile Probation Department
• 2 from Justice of the Peace Pct. 5-1 Office
• 1 from District Clerk’s Office
• 3 from Parks System
• 1 from Health Department
• 4 from Sheriff’s Office
• 1 from Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office.
Due to privacy laws, Cameron County will not release specific employee information, Trevino’s office said in the statement.
The Public Health Department is working closely with elected officials and department heads to continue taking the appropriate steps to keep their employees and the public safe, the statement said.

“We need to continue to utilize the only tools available for the protection of life, which are the utilization of a facial covering or mask, the practice of good hygiene etiquette, and social distancing,” the statement said.
“The COVID-19 case count for our community remains at an alarming rate, and we need to do our part and minimize the impact COVID-19 has had on our community.”
As of now, area hospitals are stable and the community needs to assist medical and health professionals by doing its part in continuing to shelter-in-place, and avoiding unnecessary travel and congregations, the statement said.
“In this trying time, please remember that the life you save may be your own,” Trevino said in the statement.
“Further, to all county employees, please continue to protect yourselves and utilize health and sanitation protocols when out in public to prevent the spread of COVID-19 both at work and at home.”
The Cameron County Judge’s Office will continue to provide updates as needed, the statement said.
