Harlingen offering sandbags at Victor Park, Public Works

Due to the high demand for sandbags, the City of Harlingen has opened a second location for residents to pickup the bags.

The line for sandbags at the Public Works Facility stretched for more than a mile, so the city is now offering sand and bags at Victor Park.

While the bags are already filled and ready for pick up at the Public Works Facility, residents will have to fill their bags at Victor Park.

The city is providing the bags, sand, and some shovels, but due to COVID-19, residents are welcome to provide their own shovels.

They will need to provide ID verifying they are Harlingen residents and a water bill showing they have garbage service with the city.  Residents are allowed six bags and businesses 12.

Both locations will be open until 7 p.m. Victor Park is located at 1601 South M. St. and Public Works is located at 404 South 54th St.
