Brownsville Starbucks closes after employee tests positive for COVID-19

The Starbucks at 4247 N. Expressway 77 in Brownsville has been temporarily closed after one of its employees tested positive for COVID-19.

Officials stated after learning of the positive test results, the store was immediately closed and was undergoing a deep cleaning.

The employee and all other employees that may have come in contact with them are self isolating, a Starbucks spokesperson said in a statement.

All employees who worked in close contact with the employee will be paid for the time they will miss during the recommended 14 days of self-isolation.

The store will reopen on Saturday with reduced hours. It will be staffed by employees who did not work in close contact with the infected employee.

“We continue to take elevated cleaning and sanitizing protocols that meet or exceed public health guidelines and reduce the spread of COVID-19 and protect our partners, customers and communities safe,” the statement read.
