SAN BENITO — Police are investigating a one-car accident that killed a 9-year-old girl.
Investigators believe the girl was ejected from a Ford Expedition after it rolled over near Interstate 69 on Sunday.
The girl was dead at the scene in the 1700 block of West Expressway 77 at about 1:17 a.m. Monday, city spokeswoman Martha McClain stated in a press release Tuesday.
Police were withholding the child’s name.
The vehicle “rolled over several times before coming to a stop in a yard just off the frontage road,” the press release stated.
Four other victims were taken to local hospitals.
Detectives “are currently investigating the information surrounding the crash and how it occurred,” the press release stated.
No other information was readily available Tuesday.
