Police: Boyfriend arrested for alleged assault

PRIMERA — Police said an assault victim filed a complaint Dec. 6 against her boyfriend Hugo Enrique Rodriguez, 29, who is now arrested and charged with assault impeding breath, a third-degree felony.

According to a Primera police press release, the victim said the assault took place at his home. The victim reported Rodriguez choked and punched her several times, police said.

The victim also stated she was not able to call authorities when it happened, according to the report.

She then waited until she went to work the next day, asked her co-workers for assistance and decided to call the police.

Rodriguez’s bond was set at $20,000.

Man arrested for controlled substance

Primera authorities conducted a traffic stop Dec. 5 on a vehicle for a traffic infraction. According to a police press release, the officer observed a clear plastic bag containing 104 green and yellow pills.

Upon investigation it was determined Jose Galindo Jr. did not have a prescription for the pills, police said.

He was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. A $5,000 bond was set.
