The Rio Grande City Police Department is investigating the death of a person found Thursday afternoon.
In a news release, authorities say an officer was flagged down at 5:30 p.m. in reference to a dead body near 3rd and Fairgrounds in Rio Grande City.
The person has been identified, but police are not releasing a name pending notification of their family.
The cause of death is unknown and an autopsy has been ordered.
