Police: Combes man arrested after assault

COMBES — Police said a man wanted for assaulting two victims was arrested by officers of the Combes Police Department after four days on the run.

Eric Martinez, 32, was located outside of a family member’s HOME and taken into custody on Nov. 28 at approximately 7:45 a.m.

Prior to his arrest, authorities responded on Nov. 24 to a call of an assault that occurred on Milam Street.

According to a press release, two victims, a 49-year-old man, and a 44-year-old woman, were found inside the residence.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital and were treated for numerous lacerations and contusions to their face and head.

Police said the victims identified Martinez as being the nephew of the male victim and the boyfriend of the female victim.

Martinez had fled the scene before officers arrived, police said.

According to the press release, authorities were unable to locate Martinez upon their arrival.

Warrants for aggravated assault, a second-degree felony, and assault family violence, a Class A misdemeanor, were issued for Martinez’s arrest on Nov. 26.

Once located, Martinez cooperated with investigators and said he was the person responsible for assaulting both victims, according to the press release.

The victims and Martinez claimed conflicting reasons for the assault, police said.

Martinez remains in custody pending arraignment.
