EDINBURG — Director and recipient of the Engaged Scholar Award for Creative Works, Jillian Glantz’s documentary, “Remember My Soul,” will be screened at the Museum of South Texas History on Dec. 1.
Screened at San Antonio Film Festival and CineSol Film Festival, “Remember My Soul” uncovers the history of Sephardic Jews in South Texas and explores their contributions to regional customs and culture, and how it helped shape the identity of people in the borderlands.
The Library of Congress requested “Remember My Soul” to be added to their collection on crypto-Judaic studies.
Studying political science, criminal justice and Mexican American studies, Glantz is a senior at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Prior to studying at UTRGV, Glantz spent several years directing short films in Austin and working on projects with Richard Linklater and Al Pacino.
Included in the fee for regular museum admission, the screening will start at 2 p.m. Sunday followed by a Q&A with Glantz.
