The Edinburg police Department today shut down the northbound lanes of Expressway 281 north of Freddy Gonzalez Drive.
“There were many minor accidents that occurred, one including a semi truck that struck the center median. Again no major injuries have been reported and we are working diligently to remedy the congestion,” police said in a release.
Drivers were allowed to exit on Freddy Gonzalez Drive.
While initially expecting the highway to be closed for several hours, the city of Edinburg announced on their Facebook page it had been reopened shortly after.
