Showers and thunderstorms will be hitting the Valley until early this evening.
Scattered showers are being reported across Harlingen and surrounding communities.
The rain may cool off the temperatures for a bit, but the National Weather Service in Brownsville says heat index values will range between 105 to 111 each afternoon through next week.
There is also a risk of rip currents along area beaches this weekend.
