HARLINGEN — If you are among the many residents who suffered flood damage from last week’s storm, you have an opportunity to learn how to how to receive help.
Harlingen city leaders will be holding two town hall meetings next week to answer residents’ questions and hear their concerns.
The meetings will be hosted by Mayor Chris Boswell, city commissioners and the city administration.
Boswell said the goal is to answer any questions that residents might have and to inform them on how to receive help in case their home needs repairs or they are seeking aid regarding cleanup.
“We feel that many people have questions about the flooding and we want to explain the drainage program to them, let them know what we have planned and tell them how they can get assistance,” Boswell said.
“We are going to have several speakers besides myself giving out information, all of this in efforts to inform the community as much as possible. We are still waiting on the government to let us know what the next thing is but we have declared it to be a natural disaster.”
The meetings are scheduled for July 9 at Lee H. Means Elementary School and July 11 at Moises Vela Middle School, both starting at 5:30 p.m. and lasting at least an hour.
People who would like to attend the meetings do not need to bring anything with them. They will be provided guidance on who to contact for assistance.
