Heat advisory issued for Valley, heat indices of 115

While the breezy days may bring some small relief from the heat, it’s unlikely anyone will want to be outside today if they don’t have to.

In Harlingen, temperatures are estimated to reach 99 degrees, with the numbers only rising as you look west toward Rio Grande City and Zapata, with temperatures of 105 and 107, respectfully.

Even the coastal areas are seeing number a bit higher than usual today, with Port Mansfield breaking the 90-degree mark and South Padre Island right on its tail.

Peak afternoon heat indices or “feels like” temperatures will be between 111 and 115 degrees. A heat advisory has been issued across the Valley from 1 to 7 p.m.

High winds are in the forecast for tomorrow and the weekend. Here’s to hoping they blow away the humidity.
