ELSA — Deputies with the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office recovered the body of an adult male from a canal Monday near Elsa.
Sheriff J.E. “Eddie” Guerra confirmed via social media the body was recovered in a canal west of FM 493, on Anderson Road.
The Elsa Fire Department was on the scene recovering the body Monday afternoon, Guerra stated.
The victim, whose name has not been released, is believed to be the man deputies were searching for Sunday evening.
At the time, Guerra posted on social media that deputies were assisting the Donna Fire Department in searching for a man witnesses had reported seeing going under the water but had not come out.
