HARLINGEN — Southwest Airlines is in the middle of a travel sales event offering cut-rate flights within the United States.
Flights as low as $49 one-way can be booked over the summer and the sale window to make reservations is open until 9:59 p.m. Thursday.
Here are the qualifying dates:
Aug. 20 through Dec. 18 for continental U.S. travel
Sep. 3 through Nov. 2 for inter-island travel in Hawaii
Sept. 4 through Dec. 5 for travel to and from San Juan, Puerto Rico
Aug. 20 through Dec. 11 for international travel
From Valley International Airport, summer travelers can fly to Houston/Hobby and then switch planes for a destination within the United States.
For example, one-way flights from Harlingen to New York/La Guardia are $189, flights from Harlingen to Phoenix are $145 and from VIA to Washington D.C./Reagan National the sale price is $159.
Flights between Harlingen and Austin and Houston/Hobby are $49 one-way.
Southwest says some blackout dates apply and that seats and days are limited.
