Harlingen Chamber to host Ales and Tails Fest fundraiser

HARLINGEN — There’s all-you-can eat crawfish and all-you-can-drink craft beverages, while supplies last at what’s described as a “premier annual event.”

The Harlingen Chamber of Commerce will host its third annual Ales and Tails Fest fundraiser tomorrow from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Harlingen Arts and Heritage Museum.

Alternative foods, such as hamburgers and hot dogs, will be served for attendees who don’t prefer crawfish.

Kids eat free, and Kona Ice will serve treats during the event.

In addition to a variety of food, the fundraiser will feature raffle prizes and live music by Charlie Garcia, DRAFT and Buck’n Crazy.

Presale tickets cost $40 and are available for purchase at the Harlingen Chamber of Commerce.

Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door the day of the event for $55.

Cash and all major credit cards are accepted.

The Ales and Tails Fest doesn’t only benefit the Harlingen Chamber of Commerce.

Each year, the Chamber picks a local nonprofit to receive partial funds from the event.

This year, the Harlingen Professional Firefighters Association Local 3404 Emergency Assistance Fund will receive partial proceeds.

The Harlingen Arts and Heritage Museum was the nonprofit chosen for the first two Ales and Tails Fest fundraisers.

“Being a nonprofit ourselves, we realize the importance of giving back just the way we receive,” said Harlingen Chamber of Commerce Vice President Vanessa Camacho. “So, that’s where we get our joy from, giving back to our community, business members and other nonprofits.”

According to Camacho, the number of people attending the Ales and Tales Fest has increased each year.

Chamber personnel predict having about 600 people in attendance at the fundraiser this year.

“We’re extremely excited about the event and I’m excited that the Chamber can offer something different to our community,” Camacho said. “And the growth every year just shows that the event is something our community wanted and it’s something everyone enjoys.”
