El Ultimo Taco will be heading to Austin on Saturday trying to win the National Taco Championship.
The Brownsville taqueria won best tacos at the Best Taco Showdown contest last year held in San Antonio. Joanna Hernandez, manager of the restaurant, hopes El Ultimo Taco can win again.
“We’re excited we got invited, and confident about participating in this competition. What we’re most excited about is taking Ultimo Taco to Austin. There’s several local people currently residing in the Austin area, and are as excited as we are to see Ultimo Taco representing the Valley.”
The contest will be held at the Austin American-Statesman and El Ultimo Taco will be competing against over 30 other taco restaurants across Texas.
Hernandez is inviting anyone who wants to support El Ultimo Taco to join them at the competition. She said there’s a bus that will be traveling to and from the contest on Saturday.
