CBP: 40 pounds of cocaine found in Kia

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested a 22-year old man who allegedly was trying to smuggle cocaine into the United States

In a news release, the agency says the young man, a U.S. citizen living in Matamoros, attempted to cross Gateway International Bridge in Brownsville on Monday when he was ordered to undergo a secondary inspection.

During the review of his white 2013 Kia Rio, officer says they discovered 18 packages of cocaine hidden within the sedan. The drug has a street value of $308,040.

CBPS officers seized the drugs and vehicle, and turned over the suspect to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents for further investigation.
