HARLINGEN — Jim and Wendy Coffman and volunteers have been quite busy the past couple weeks collecting items for the annual Harlingen Neighborhood Food Pantry rummage sale.
And again this year, they think it will be a winner.
Previous years the sale has brought in $4,000 to $5,000.
This time around, there’s a refrigerator, gas stove and a number of wooden small tables such as nightstands, end tables and rolling kitchen tables.
Those will all be available tomorrow morning during the Feb. 2 rummage sale held at the Church of Christ on 8th and Harrison from 7 a.m. to noon.
Wendy Coffman said last year there was a great turnout and this year donations have been strong.
She is expecting a big day tomorrow for the food pantry.
All funds raised from the event will go to purchasing food to give to needy families.
YOU SHOULD KNOW
• The Harlingen Neighborhood Food Pantry serves 1,200 to 1,400 individuals per month with food.
• The first week of January, the pantry serviced 210 on Wednesday and 120 more on Friday.
• The pantry is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays
• It is operated by about 100 volunteers
