Drivers sent to hospital after car crash

HARLINGEN — Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that sent both drivers to the hospital with non life- threatening injuries.

A police release stated that according to witnesses, a GMC SUV was traveling westbound on Austin Street when it allegedly disregarded the stop sign, striking a Nissan Xterra.

A 4-year-old girl in the Xterra was not injured.

The crash occurred at the intersection of 21st Street and East Austin at approximately 5:30 p.m., Oct. 17, according to Harlingen police.

The drivers of both vehicles were transported to Valley Baptist Medical Center for observation only.

There was no further information available as the Harlingen Police Department continues to investigate the crash.
