HARLINGEN — A Harlingen man surrendered to police after allegedly striking a man with his car and then driving away from the accident, police said.
Investigators say 41-year-old Juan Gabriel Garcia hit the man around 9 p.m. Sunday as the victim tried to cross the 1400 block of North Business 77 near 5th Street.
According to police, Garcia drove away in a 2013-2014 Nissan Altima and failed to stop and render aid to the victim, who is hospitalized with serious injuries.
Police say Garcia voluntarily turned himself in to authorities Monday night.
He is charged with accident involving serious bodily injury. His bond is set at $20,000 for the third degree felony.
