Valley Haven, a local emergency children’s shelter located in Harlingen, is hosting its two-day Fourth Annual Boat and Kayak Fishing Tournament at Louie’s Backyard and Jim’s Pier on the Island Sept. 21 and 22.
All of the proceeds donated from the fishing tournament and social event fundraiser will benefit the Children’s Shelter.
Valley Haven began operating as the region’s first emergency children’s shelter in February 2018. About 200 children ranging from ages zero to 17 have been taken care of by the shelter.
