The Cameron County Regional Mobility Authority is analyzing how it could integrate the county’s international bridges and parks into its toll system, thus allowing motorists to pay for any of the three through one invoice.

County commissioners gave CCRMA Executive Director Pete Sepulveda Jr. the green light during their meeting this week to look into integrating the systems.

Precinct 1 Commissioner Sofia C. Benavides asked for the issue to be placed on the court’s agenda.

“In the past, we’ve talked about consolidating or bringing together the bridge system and parks when it comes to the software,” she said. Benavides wanted commissioners to discuss the mobility authority “possibly coming up with a cheaper and better system that would incorporate our bridges and our parks department and allow him to meet with the directors …”

The mobility authority created a custom toll lane at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge that went live Thursday, Sepulveda said. The process started about one year ago, he said, and the lane is open to passenger and commercial vehicles.
