Chief Rodriguez to announce retirement from BPD

Brownsville Police Department Chief Orlando Rodriguez will announce his retirement Tuesday morning.

Brownsville Police Department Chief Orlando Rodriguez will announce his retirement Tuesday morning.

The BPD made the announcement in brief press email announcing Rodriguez’s retirement press conference.

Former City Manager Charlie Cabler appointed Rodriguez as interim chief on Dec. 20, 2011, following the resignation of former chief Carlos Garcia, who now serves as chief for the Port of Brownsville Police Department.

Rodriguez was officially appointed as chief in 2012.

Rodriguez has been with the Brownsville Police Department for 36 years.
