Valley Baptist Medical Center – Harlingen receives Tenet Circle of Excellence Award

HARLINGEN — Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen has been named to Tenet Healthcare’s 2018 Circle of Excellence in recognition of its clinical and operational performance over the past year.

“The Circle of Excellence Award recognizes all-around excellence and Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen exceeded the most important aspects of the care we provide at Tenet. Hospitals that deliver these results have a profound impact on the community and people that they serve by providing the very best in high quality care and service,” said Eric Evans, Tenet’s President of Hospital Operations.

Valley Baptist-Harlingen was one of six Tenet hospitals nationwide to be recognized with a Circle of Excellence Award for 2018.

“This award is a great honor for our team and a true testament to each of our colleagues for their dedication to provide exceptional care to each patient and family member,” said Manny Vela, Chief Executive Officer for Valley Baptist Health System. “I couldn’t be prouder of my team for continually working to achieve excellence and deliver on Tenet’s mission of helping people live happier, healthier lives.”

“This recognition is a direct result of the care and experience provided by our healthcare team members to ensure the highest quality of care,” said Stephen Hill, RN, Chief Nursing Office for Valley Baptist-Harlingen. “We take great pride in our nursing team and level of care they provide each of our patients to ensure each experience is a positive one.”

“The award is a testament of a combined commitment from all physicians, nursing staff and ancillary staff,” said Dr. Roberto Hernandez, Chief of Staff for Valley Baptist-Harlingen. “We see patients during their most difficult times and it is our obligation to provide them with compassionate, quality care. We are committed to the citizens of Cameron County and the entire Rio Grande Valley.”

The Tenet Healthcare 2018 Circle of Excellence award is the latest in a string of recent achievements for Valley Baptist-Harlingen. Recent accolades for providing safe and high quality healthcare also include the Leapfrog grade ’A’ for safety for both Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 and being designated a four-star rated hospital for overall quality by Centers for Medicaid Services (CMS) since 2016.

Earlier this year, Valley Baptist-Harlingen was certified by the Texas Department of State Health Services and the American College of Surgeons as the only level II (major) trauma facility in the Rio Grande Valley. Valley Baptist-Harlingen also continues to be at the forefront of stroke care and remains the only Comprehensive Stroke Center south of San Antonio, as certified by DNV-GL Healthcare.
